Cosmetic Surgery – Necessity Or Frivolity?
If there is one field in surgery that arouses passionate debate, then it has to be the area of cosmetic surgery: a specialty that, by definition, seeks to help people improve/enhance their outward appearance. Now one of the greatest point of conjecture with regard to cosmetic surgery is as to whether it is necessary in the first place or whether it is just a ‘frivolous undertaking’ which is only good for self-centered people who are not satisfied with whatever nature has endowed them with in terms of external appearance. It might be hard to understand why someone would voice such strong opinions with regard to cosmetic surgery, until you get to learn of the whole range of procedures carried out by cosmetic surgery practitioners, from the ‘tucking’ of the abdomen in the case of overweight/previously overweight people to breast and buttock augmentation and onto rhinoplasty (which involves the ‘re-working’ of the nose) and lots of other similar procedures in between.
